Hello fellow boaters:

Hope all is well with everyone this winter season.  It will be spring before we know it and we will be getting our boats all ready for another awesome boating season.  I just wanted to send a quick note/message out to inform everyone what has been happening throughout the winter with our Yacht Club:

1.  We had an awesome I-LYA meeting and rendezvous in December in Perrysburg.  We now have full voting rights within I-LYA since we have an official clubhouse.  This means we have a “say” in what happens within I-LYA so that all of you can enjoy the benefits and discounts at other I-LYA yacht clubs around the lake.

2.  We conducted our “changing of the watch” as well.  For those not familiar with the bylaws this event occurs every 2 years.  Bill Niceswanger is now our Commodore(congratulations Bill), Wayne Martin is our Vice Commodore, Steve Banashak is our Rear Commodore.  All 3 are officers within our club.  We also have Diane Baise as our Treasurer, Doug Ricci as our Secretary, Dave and Linda Ogram as our membership chair., and Jennie Mann as our Quartermaster.  Yes, I am now your Past Commodore.  We have awesome people in each position to continue our excitement of last year and to spearhead our events calendar for 2011.

3.  We are actively working on our 2011 events calendar and getting membership applications out to everyone for this year.  We ended the 2010 season with 77 boaters(not people—a boater is defined as a single person or a couple).  So, we had over 100 people, as you can tell if you attended our gatherings later in the year.  Applications are due by May 1st, so when you get them please turn them in ASAP so we can get you on the 2011 roster.

4.  The clubhouse is in full swing.  We are looking to build a bar and add some more “things” to it as well.  Last summer we held a ”summer raffle” as most of you are aware.  We did not have anyone come forward with the winning ticket for the electronics gift certificate or the I-pod.  So, we will raffle the i-pod off in 2011 and we plan to use the gift certificate to purchase a TV for our bar/clubhouse.  This will make another nice addition to the clubhouse so we can view races, games, cartoons, etc.  Thanks to all for a successful “summer raffle” and an outstanding 2010.

5.  We have been fielding messages and calls this winter with more people interested in our Yacht Club so we look forward to a fun filled 2011.

Well, I won’t bore you to death, but that is a brief update on what has been happening.  We look forward to seeing everyone this Spring.  Take care!
