From the desk of Commodore Capt. Steve Banashak
May 15 2016
Welcome Lakefront Yacht Club members to 2016 boating season at Lakefront Marina. The 2016 season will be the 10th anniversary of the club and I am looking forward to serving as your Commodore. As a founder of this club I have some personal goals for my tenure as Commodore. The club has made tremendous strides since that first meeting in 2005 and I can’t thank the previous leadership enough for all the contributions. The club house is complete—we “have built it and they have come”.
Those who will support my Bridge are: Vice Commodore Jim Cox, Rear Commodore Jeff Jayl, Fleet Captain Ed Cantu, Secretary/Treasurer Doug Ricci, Quartermaster Jim Geyer, and Bar Manager Sharon Krzynowek.
Lakefront Yacht Club wants to welcome Jeremy Jett as the new General Manager for SH Marinas and also welcome the Faflik family back as owner/ managers of Lakefront Marina. There are remarkable upgrades coming to the facility that should enhance our boating experience at Lakefront Marina.
We must continue to expand participation in our club. We have received a Liquor License and are happy to have Bar Manager Sharon Krzynowek to help us run the operations. We will be able to serve members only and all alcohol must now be purchased at the bar and consumed on the premises. It will be important to carry your card with you at club activities. We will continue to staff with volunteers so if you want to see the bar open please, let us know the hours that you can help us by volunteering.
We have offered up the chance to form committees. This would allow special interest/talent groups to add ideas or activities to enhance the time spent at club activities. This is YOUR club and it needs YOUR time to help it grow.
Now that the club is completed, we want to be sure it is available for members use. We are anticipating a new security system which will allow Yacht Club members access even if there is no staff to utilize the facilities. The big change is that you will not be able to bring your own beverages inside. However, we have a strong calendar of events for this season and hope that everyone will get to enjoy the club’s social agenda.
My door is always open and I will be listening for new ideas and the voices of new participants for club activities. We hope to have fresh faces involved in cruises and operations as well.
