The clubs’ 2011 phrase—“You build it—They will come”

It is beyond belief that we are already past the mid-way mark of the 2011 Boating season. The “spring” was one of the wettest and slowest starts ever. That did not deter the Lakefront Yacht Club start. We not only have four walls to call “our club” but with countless hours of volunteer time and generous donations from individuals as well as our sister club we have a “full fledge” club. The bar, built by Vice Commodore Wayne Martin surpasses any bar in our city. The land parties, hosted by Jim Geyer and his crew have been the most lavish since the club began. All of this led by Bill Niceswanger—Commodore of the 2011 season

We co- hosted National Marina Day with the Marina. This was followed up with a Margarita Challenge and a fantastic Mexican Food Bar. We celebrated the Independence holiday with the “best” way to serve an American Hot Dog—pulled pork sandwiches.

To finish off our mid season, the club’s first cruise took place. We had seven boats travel to Middle Bass where the bridge prepared lunch to start off a day of island enjoyment. It was the best-attended cruise with the whole bridge attending led by Fleet Captain Rick Vandermark. Beautiful sun and following seas made for a safe journey.

Next up—ILYA at the Bay. Hope we can see some support from our members. Come out and enjoy all the benefits of being a part of your club.

 Best regards,

Captain Stephen Banashak
