Docks are going in the water. Yes, let me repeat that. Docks are going into the water at Lakefront. There is still some ice in spots in the marina, but we are lifting docks into the water regardless. This process takes us a week with 4 people working hard to get it accomplished. Lake Erie has opened up and water can be seen all the way to the islands. Some of the ice has stacked up just short of the shore along Lakeshore Drive, but it looks short-lived. We are looking at temperatures close to 65 Thursday. May 1 and the official marina opening day is a month away. Baseball opens next week. March Madness ends in a week. Spring is officially here. I wandered outside and saw my shadow, winter is over.
Launch Schedule. If you have not scheduled your launch or renewed your dock or rack, time is running short. Call Michelle in service to get your launch scheduled and any work you might need prior to your launch. The service department is busy. Don’t delay and get caught having to wait to get in the water. Our first launch is scheduled this Saturday. Call Deb for your dock or rack or pwc space. We have added a number of new customers and spots are filling up, especially in the 25’ range. We have rearranged the rack building somewhat and replaced bunks in most of the spaces. Rack spaces are becoming limited. We were nearly full last year, and have become nearly full already this year. Remember, you can pay monthly for your space.
Lakefront Yacht Club St. Patrick’s Day Party. The Yacht Club hosted their first St. Patrick’s Day celebration. As usual, the food was great, corned beef and cabbage. Joining the Yacht Club costs only $100 if you dock at Lakefront or $125 if you dock elsewhere. The have a full schedule of events and cruises planned. The clubhouse has been improved with new lighting, new ceiling panels, and new tables. Don’t miss out on the fun.
OBEC Course at LYC. The marina and the Yacht Club are hosting the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to the facility, Saturday, May 30 for the Ohio Boater Education Course. The course is mandatory for anyone born after 1982 to operate a watercraft. The course will last all day, 8 hours, and costs only $5. This will be open to the public with space limited to 30 people. The Yacht Club will provide a free lunch for all participants. Our marina members are getting the first notice to sign up. Call the front office and reserve your spot. Safe boating is a priority for all of us.
