Lakefront Yacht Club

July 14, 2015
Hello again Fellow boaters and Yacht Club Members!
Summer is starting to fly by. We have had some miserable weather, but we have also had some great parties! I hope you have taken time to enjoy your clubs privileges this summer. We have a full calendar of events planned, and hope you are enjoying all that you can.
In June, we celebrated National Marina Day, Cigars under the Stars, and the LYC Annual Margarita Challenge. Check out the website, lakefrontyachtclub.com for pictures of all the fun.
July kicked off with the 4th of July Progressive Dock Party and a Sunday “cook your own omelet and Bloody Mary breakfast.” Our 2nd cruise of the season took us to Battery Park. We had fewer than anticipated boats but still had a great time—except for the ride home Sunday in the rain!
Please join your fellow Yacht Club members and boaters, as Stan Daugherty hosts a Celebration of Life for his late wife Judy Daugherty, who passed away in June. Dinner and two drink tickets will be provided. We are asking that you bring a side dish to share. Please join us in supporting Stan and his family. Full details are on the website.
This weekend will begin Thursday night as we will have transient visitors from The Detroit Beach Boat Club visiting Lakefront Marina and Yacht Club. We hope to show them a great weekend. They will be here to enjoy Lakefront Marina and facilities, and share in the reciprocity of being an I-LYA/AYC member. We hope to see many more boaters make Lakefront their destination.
The weekend of July 25th will be our “Christmas in July Celebration.” This is always a great celebration in the “heat” of the summer. A traditional Christmas dinner is in the planning, please make time to enjoy the fun!
Finally, I will close with reminding every member and potential member that this club is a foundation of its volunteer’s. I want to thank each and every one who lends a hand. Without your help, these events would falter. PLEASE give a hand. See me with any questions. Also, if anyone wants to understand the internal workings of our organization, our charter and by-laws are available. They are posted under “members tab” on the website, or any bridge member can get them with a request. Thanks to everyone for making our club a growing success
